Few people know that, gram for gram, iris essence can cost more than gold. The reason is as simple as it is unforgiving: from the moment the rhizome is harvested, at least three years of drying are needed before it can be distilled into a usable essence.
Tuscany is one of the few regions in the world where Iris pallida and Iris germanica grow in ideal conditions: clay hills, warm summers, mild winters. It is a cultivation that demands patience more than technique — a luxury very few houses can still afford today.
Iris is never hurried. Either you wait for it, or it does not exist.
The result is an essence of singular character: powdery, velvety, almost like face powder, able to give depth and structure to any composition. This is why Tuscan iris remains, still today, one of the most sought-after — and most imitated — raw materials in fine perfumery.

Using authentic Tuscan iris means accepting costs and timescales that no synthetic can fully replicate. But it is precisely in that choice — slow, demanding, imperfect — that true craftsmanship shows itself.
